This policy describes how Handi collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We aim to comply with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and similar applicable laws.
1. What we collect
- Account info: name, email, password (hashed), phone (optional).
- Profile info: location, bio, services, rate, photos you upload.
- Job and message data: jobs you post, conversations, reviews you give and receive.
- Technical: IP, device info, basic usage metrics for security and platform health.
2. How we use it
- To run the Platform: matching, messaging, notifications, reviews.
- To keep the Platform safe: detecting fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
- To send transactional emails (verify email, new message). Marketing email is opt-in only.
3. What we share
- Other users: your public profile and review history. Conversations are visible only to participants.
- Service providers we use: hosting, email, SMS verification — bound by confidentiality.
- Authorities: when legally required.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Your rights
- Access: request a copy of your data any time.
- Correction: edit your profile or email privacy@handi.test.
- Deletion: delete your account from the profile page. Some records (e.g. reviews tied to a completed job) may be retained anonymously to preserve platform integrity.
- Objection / restriction: contact us any time.
5. Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Deleted accounts enter a 30-day grace period — sign in within it to restore. After that, account data is removed except where law requires retention, or where reviews/ratings need preservation.
6. Security
Passwords are hashed. Connections are encrypted in production. We restrict internal access. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.
7. Children
Handi is not for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes
